May 07, 2026
GEORGETOWN, KY. (May 7, 2026) – In recognition of National Nurses Week, Centerpoint Health is celebrating the more than 500 registered nurses across its regional health system whose compassion, clinical excellence and commitment to patient care help advance the organization’s mission of making communities healthier.
Observed annually from May 6-12, National Nurses Week recognizes the critical role nurses play in delivering high-quality care and improving the health and wellbeing of patients and communities. Across Centerpoint Health’s hospitals and clinics, nurses serve on the front lines of patient care each day, providing comfort, advocacy, education and healing to thousands of patients throughout Central Kentucky.
“As healthcare continues to evolve, our nurses remain at the heart of everything we do,” said Bruce Tassin, Market President for Centerpoint Health. “Their professionalism, resilience and compassion impact patients and families in extraordinary ways every single day. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our nursing teams and proud to celebrate them during National Nurses Week.”
On May 6, National Nurses Day, each Centerpoint Health hospital hosted a special ceremony recognizing its 2026 DAISY Award recipient. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors nurses who demonstrate extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care. Established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes following the care he received from nurses during his battle with an autoimmune disease, the DAISY Foundation was created to recognize the profound difference nurses make in the lives of patients and families.
The following nurses were honored with the 2026 DAISY Award:
Marissa Ward, RN, Surgery | Centerpoint Health - Georgetown
Marissa Ward was praised for going above and beyond in providing attentive and compassionate aftercare. The patient shared appreciation for her dedication and professionalism, noting that her care reflected the high standards of nursing at Centerpoint Health and stating that the hospital is fortunate to have her on staff.

Jordan Cox was recognized for his kindness and advocacy after ensuring a needed outpatient ultrasound order was completed following an emergency department visit. The patient shared that Jordan’s positive attitude and compassionate care extended to their family as well, helping make a difficult day end on a hopeful note. “He always had a smile and genuinely cared,” the nomination read. “He made a really bad day turn good.”
Haleigh Eldridge, RN, Intensive Care Unit | Centerpoint Health - Winchester
A patient’s family shared that Haleigh Eldridge brought calm, compassion and genuine kindness during a stressful hospital stay. Centerpoint Health encourages patients, families and team members to continue recognizing nurses who make a meaningful difference through compassionate care and service excellence.
