Centerpoint Health and Scott County Schools Launch School-Based Health Clinics at Garth and Southern Elementary Schools
October 22, 2026
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (October 22, 2026) – Centerpoint Health and Scott County Schools have launched a pilot school-based health clinic program at Garth Elementary School and Southern Elementary School, expanding access to healthcare for students, faculty, staff and family members.
The Centerpoint School Clinics provide convenient access to high-quality healthcare where students spend much of their day, helping reduce barriers to care while supporting student health, wellness and academic success. As a pilot initiative, the program will help evaluate opportunities to further expand access to school-based healthcare in the future.
The clinics are staffed by Rachel Johnson, APRN, who serves as the full-time nurse practitioner caring for students at both locations. Dr. Todd Reinhart, family physician, serves as the medical director for the school-based clinic program.
Students enrolled in the clinics have access to a wide range of healthcare services, including treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, wellness visits, preventive care, management of chronic conditions, sports physicals, immunizations and referrals for additional specialty care when needed. The clinics are designed to complement—not replace—a student's established primary care provider by offering convenient care for routine health needs that help keep students healthy, in the classroom and learning safely. Care is coordinated with each student's primary care provider whenever possible to ensure continuity of care.
"Partnering with Centerpoint Health to provide in-school wellness clinics at Garth and Southern allows us to meet our students' needs right where they are to improve attendance and ensure our students are healthy and ready to learn,” said Billy Parker, Superintendent of Scott County Schools. “This important initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities and support for our students, staff, and families. Together with community partners like Centerpoint Health, we are working to make Scott County the greatest place in the world to live and learn for everyone.”
In addition to serving enrolled students, the clinics are also available to faculty, staff and the immediate families of students attending Garth Elementary School and Southern Elementary School, further expanding access to healthcare within the school communities.
"Keeping children healthy is one of the best investments we can make in their future," said Bruce Tassin, Market President and Chief Executive Officer of Centerpoint Health. "By partnering with Scott County Schools through this pilot program, we're bringing high-quality healthcare directly to students in a familiar environment, making it easier for families to access care while helping students stay healthy, in school and ready to learn."
The clinics help address routine healthcare needs while minimizing time away from school and work for students, parents and school employees. Families who choose to participate complete consent forms, allowing students to receive care at the school clinic when appropriate.
